Peterson Park at 701 E. Marion and Earl Dufrain Park at 403 Liberty Avenue are the two parks in the City of Newton.
Peterson Park has playground equipment, miniature golf, disc golf, picnic tables and shelters, restrooms, sand volleyball court, basketball courts, tennis courts, horseshoe pit, hills for snow sledding and beautiful scenery. A canoe ramp for access to the Embarrass River was installed in the fall of 2007. A new aquatic center opened in 2010 with a state-of-the-art bathhouse and concession area, 90' spiral water slide, wade-in zero depth area, lap pool and diving area with two one-meter diving platforms. Earl Dufrain Park has playground equipment, picnic tables, restrooms, a skateboard park and beautiful scenery. The skateboard park has Rhino skateboard equipment including a half pipe, a quarter pipe, flat bank, hand rail box, fly box, grind box, grind rail, and kinked rail all on a concrete pad.
