Scott Bloomberg
Scott Bloomberg was elected to the City Council in 2001. He is the Chairman of the Building and Grounds, Building Permit and Economic Development committees, and is active on water/WasteWater and Parks and Cemetery committees.

Scott is a member of St. Thomas Church, Past President of St. Thomas Catholic School, a Paul Harris Fellow of Newton Rotary, Knights of Columbus and the Illinois Chiropractic Society.

Scott is a Chiropractic Physician As, BS, DC. He has operated Bloomberg Chiropractic Center since is 1988.

Scott can be reached by email. He resides at 304 E. Maxwell in Newton. 802 Oak St. in Newton with his wife, Linda. They have three children.


Harold Bolander
Harold Bolander has served on the City Council for six years. He is on the Animal Control, Personnel, and Alcohol and Tobacco committees and is involved with Emergency Management Agency.

Harold is a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Harold is a graduate of Newton Community High School. He resides at 711 College Ave. in Newton.


Larry D. Brooks
Larry Brooks was first elected to the City Council in 1999 and served for eight years. He returned to the council in 2007 and will serve through 2011. Larry is a member of with the finance and insurance committees.

He is a member of Jasper County 911 Board, the Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas Church and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

Larry is a 1960 graduate of Newton Community High School. He is retired from Newton IGA, where he managed the Meat Department for 36 years.

Larry resides at 802 Oak St. in Newton with his wife, Connie. They have five children and 10 grandchildren.


David Brown
Ward 2
David Brown was elected to his first term as Alderman of Ward 2 in 2007. He is committee chairman for Emergency Management Agency; Health and Sanitation; and Parks, Cemeteries and Pool.

David is a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, a Wade Community firefighter and the training officer for M.A.B.A.S. 54 HAZMAT Team.

David is a 1988 graduate of Newton Community High School. He received an associates degree from Frontier Community College and is in sales and design at Yoder Cabinets in Arthur, Ill.

David resides at 805 N. E. Hickory Drive in Newton with his wife, Melissa. They have three sons, Connor, Parker and Carson.


Jeff Ford
Jeff Ford was elected to the City Council in 2005. He is involved with the electric and negotiations committees and the police department.

Jeff is a member of Scott Avenue Christian Church. He is the Vice President of the Republican Party’s local organization, and the President of the local American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Union.

Jeff works as an educator for the Department of Corrections at the Lawrence Correctional Center. He has a Bachelors degree from Asbury College and received specialist and Masters degrees from Eastern Illinois University.

Rick Lindemann
Rick Lindemann served as Alderman of Ward 1 from late 2005 through mid-2007.  He was elected to his current Alderman position in April of 2009.  He is the committee chairman for the Water Department and is active on most other committees.

Rick is a member and Elder of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, co-owner of PhotoGraphics Studio in Newton and Vice President of Total Printing Systems, also in Newton.

He is a 1995 graduate of Newton Community High School and a 2000 graduate of Miami University (Ohio) with a BS in Paper Science and Chemical Engineering and a Minor in Statistical Methods.

Robert Reisner
Robert Reisner has been serving on the City Council for two years. He is committee chairman for the Street Department and also serves on the WasteWater Treatment committee.

Robert is a member of the Central Christian Church and is the manager of Arndt’s Fudgery.

Robert resides at 505 Martin St. in Newton.


Larry Short
Larry Short was elected to the City Council in 2007. Committees he is involved with include Finance, Parks/Cemetery and Pool, Police, Emergency Management Agency, Health and Sanitation, Dues and Donations, and Negotiations.

Larry is a 1980 graduate of Newton Community High School. He is Operations Manager at Norris Electric.
